Saddleback Nodes

Saddleback Hub

The topology of Mission Viejo prevents line-of-sight links between many of the nodes within the city.  To solve this problem it was necessary to find a site that could be used as a hub that could be seen my most of the nodes thereby allowing nodes to talk to each other by having them first connect to a hub station.

The Saddleback hub was established back in 2013 with a node on 2.4 GHz and another node on 5 GHz.  The picture on the left shows the original configuration.

Since then a 3 GHz node and RF shielding has been added to allow for cross-band connections between nodes in the Mission Viejo and surrounding area such as San Juan Capistrano to the south and Laguna Woods to the north.
